Hirondelle Private Hospital is currently offering 4 Aurora Extras Programs
Hydrotherapy has been proven to offer a comfortable environment to exercise, for anyone experiencing pain. Our Hydrotherapy programs are offered both in business hours and afterhours, to cater for people who are working and wish to attend Hydrotherapy after work.
The program is perfect for patients undergoing ‘prehab’ prior to surgery, as well as those recovering after surgery, trauma or deconditioning.
Circuit Strength Group
Circuit Strength Group improves functional strength + facilitates a return to regular lifestyle activities and daily living (e.g. social sports). The 60 minute group class of up to 6 patients is run in a circuit format. The exercises themselves can vary from class to class, depending on the physical function of the class.
Anyone is welcome to join this group which is open to community patients as well as patients admitted as day patients. The focus of our Circuit Strength Group is on reconditioning and strengthening - while it is perfect for our elderly patients wanting to regain lost function, the program also caters for younger patients who have suffered trauma or stroke etc, and wish to regain their functional strength.
Parkinson’s Group (COMING SOON ENQUIRE TODAY)
One in (approximately) every 300 people, are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and almost 20% are of working age. Appropriate exercise can maintain function and independence whilst helping to reduce burden of care.
Our Parkinson’s group is targeted at mid-stage disease where patients are still mostly independent. It is based on the principles of higher intensity, large amplitude movements which are shown to be beneficial. Our group classes are led by our Physiotherapists and involve speech pathology as required.
Guillain-Barre Group (COMING SOON ENQUIRE TODAY)
Guillain-Barre is a condition that can affect anyone and although the majority make a full recovery, there is still a significant number of patients who experience long term reduced function. Research shows that a high intensity exercise program, 12 months from the initial onset, can lead to clinically significant improvements in a patient’s function, which is what we focus on in our group.
Our Guillain-Barre group is a high intensity exercise group focused on strengthening, endurance and education.
