Professional background
Dr Michael Lau (MBChB, FRANZCP, AFRACMA, MMed (Psych), Certificate of Addiction) is a Sydney-based Consultant Psychiatrist. He obtained his early medical degree from the United Kingdom and subsequently Masters of Medicine Psychiatry from University of Sydney. He is Fellow of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, an Affiliate of Royal Australia College of Medical Administration and is trained in Addiction and Adult Psychiatry (Mood Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Body Dysmorphia, PTSD, Psychosis, Personality Disorder and Somatoform Disorders).
Dr Lau is currently a National Medical Director at Monarch Mental Health Group and Clinical Lead for Neurostimulation at Mayo Private Hospital.
Dr Lau is also involved in Psychedelic research in Major Depressive Disorder and PTSD. In addition to that, Dr Lau has experience in rural psychiatry, having worked in the inpatient unit as a Visiting Psychiatrist at Bloomfield Hospital, Orange, Pro Patria Wagga Wagga and Mid Coast NSW.
