Referring to Hirondelle Private Hospital or Practice
Healthcare professionals can refer patients for any of our treatment options by following the process outlined below.
Step 1 - Assess Your Patient
Confirm that your patient requires a specialist mental health admission and is not in acute crisis or actively suicidal.
Important: If your patient is in acute crisis, please refer them to the nearest Emergency Department.
Step 2 - Confirm Funding
Ensure your patient has an appropriate funding pathway, such as:
- Private Health Insurance
- DVA status
- WorkCover
- Self-funding capacity
Step 3 - Submit Referral & Contact Us
Once suitability and funding are confirmed, please contact our Admissions and Assessment Team to discuss admission:

Please note: Our team will review the referral and discuss suitability with you if required.
Step 4 - Eligibility & Financial Check
We will liaise directly with the patient to:
- Confirm eligibility
- Outline any applicable out-of-pocket expenses
Step 5 - Admission Confirmation
On the same day, we will:
- Confirm the patient’s admission date
- Coordinate allocation of a treating psychiatrist
- Communicate the outcome with both referrer and patient
